TIMELINE
I like to create “map art” so I came up with the idea of using map art, which could be updated over time, to represent how many people had died. I wanted to represent people from all over the world, not just the US, and decided each country should have its own map. This I would mean I needed an area around 2500 x 2500 blocks, the equivalent of 6.5 square kilometers in the real world.
Inspired by the Uncensored Library, I came up with the idea of creating a whole world for the memorial. But, I didn't even know hot to use the "/fill" command, let alone how to create a whole world, so had a lot to learn. I found Lord Dakr’s You Tube videos about World Painter and taught myself how to use the program.
I also turned to my family and my friends on my Minecraft server for help. The Memorial would not have gotten very far without them!
There are many wonderful ideas that we had for the memorial that have not been realized. We decided what things needed to be done to be able to share the Memorial with others, and have focused on those. I plan to keep working on the Memorial and occasionally release updated versions.
